Your first step to lower energy bills: A home energy audit
Conducting a home energy audit is the first strategic step you should take toward enhancing your home’s energy efficiency and lowering your power bill. Many homes have hidden inefficiencies like poor insulation, outdated appliances, and leaky windows and doors that quietly waste energy and drive up costs.
A professional energy auditor can pinpoint where your home is losing energy and give you a roadmap to meaningful savings. Thanks to new tax credits under the Inflation Reduction Act, Nevadans can claim up to $150 toward the cost of an audit. The federal Energy Efficient Home Improvement Tax Credit (25C) makes identifying home improvement opportunities more affordable.
The Nevada Clean Energy Fund provides homeowners with financial assistance through their Energy Audit Incentive Program. Participants can receive a forgivable loan to cover the cost of the audit, which can be forgiven if the homeowner implements at least one recommended energy upgrade.
NV Energy also offers its customers a free In-Home Energy Assessment that includes an evaluation of lighting, caulking around windows and doors, insulation, HVAC and appliance inspection, and recommended upgrades.
